John Donohue
Southwest Florida, Regional head of Hobie Kayaks Pro Fishing Team, John “JD” Donohue, is a proud member of Accent Paddles, TFO Fishing Rods, SaltWater Assassin, Sea Claw Anchors, and Hobie Polarized Pro Staff. JD authors the monthly “No Motor Required” column in Coastal Angler Magazine, as well as contributing outdoor writer for Kayak Angler Magazine, and a correspondent for the Sarasota Herald Tribune. Although JD has enjoyed a multitude of successes in fishing tournaments, including a win at the 2009 Calusa Blueways and several top three finishes in the IFA Kayak Series sponsored by Hobie, he better appreciates the more relaxed kayak experience, passing along his passion of kayak fishing to others. Since hanging up his skates after a 20 year semi pro hockey career, he has been tirelessly fishing the waters of Southwest Florida for more than a decade and possesses an intimate knowledge of SW Florida’s premier kayaking locations. It is clear that no matter what path life lays in his way, JD will always find time to fish.
